@PassTheFox the fence looks great so far! The weather has been a total pain for fence painting, I did half of our new bit in feb and have only just managed to paint the other half!!

I've been enjoying the progress updates on your thread Zu. Veg beds look fab! We also managed to get our painting finished and am deciding on a shade for the fence. We used Ronseal last time but this Garden Shades stuff went on much better

Wow, great progress! The idea of the D shaped lawn is thoroughly vindicated. Really takes the eye off the fences. And the planting left by the previous owner had given you a good start.

@PassTheFox thank you, it is good paint! First lot I did is still looking good a year on which is promising!!

The progress looks great, I love your sketched vision 😆 when are the pergola and patio being done?

@zugenie That is great to hear as the Ronseal had no staying power! I'm keen to get some shrubs and trees in to give the birds somewhere to sit (and poo 🙈) other than the dark fence!

Pergola and patio due July. We've worked with this person before and are happy to wait for him.

I've got some packets of summer seeds that came free with some bulbs. I think I'll sow them and see what happens. It might be a bit late, although we are up north so I might just get away with it!

In the meanwhile I'm dreaming up ideas to transform the grass into raised beds with an archway leading to a circular lawn... My OH isn't very impressed so far 😆

Thanks @Loxley - it really has made such a difference already. We'll probably rearrange some of the left side to match the overall design. We've got a huge patch of lambs tongue and stonecrop that we held off dividing this year so we could repurpose it in the new beds

It's looking grand! The D-shaped lawn is just how I imagined it, but better in reality of course :).
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained
