Glad that was helpful. The only other thing I would add is that you don’t have to do everything at once. If you are at all nervous about tackling it, it’s helpful to do stage 1 first (suckers, lower branches) then leave it for a while and go back to it. Good luck!
I pruned out the suckers today and gave the tree a little haircut of lower hanging branches. I will wait until summer to do any more pruning. I did put down a specialist fertiliser and watered that in to help it along. It looks so much better already.
That does indeed look so much better, a really graceful tree has emerged. Well done and many thanks for the before and after pics, always great to see. I think you’ve done absolutely the right thing by leaving it at that for now 😊
