New shoots ID please

Good afternoon all. I have a lot of what look like bulb shoots emerging in my garden, but not having planted any bulbs I am at a loss as to what they are. Any help would be appreciated. Apologies but I can't get the images to display the right way up.

  • Unless someone can ID just from the leaves ( @Silver surferprobably can ) perhaps you could lift one and see if it is roots or bulb and pop a photo on ?

Is it Spanish Bluebell time yet,  I know their leaves are out before the English ones.

  • @anna146 Not very confident but might be Narcissus Tete a tete. Are you in the south? I do have some in my garden but not as advanced as yours and you can see the buds. Your bulbs could be 'blind' if all you have is leaves. A photo of a bulb should help.

  • Thank you all for your responses. I will take one out to see the bulb. Yes @GardenerSuze I am in the south
  • They do flower weeks ahead in the South of the country.

I've been having a look at the bulbs coming up in my garden and those do look a lot like the tete-a-tete daffodils. In mine I can just see the buds starting to show down in the base.

The folds in the leave are worth studying.  They might be Hemerocallis, they are early into growth.  THey won't have bulbs, just fat roots.

Excavating the root/bulb will show whether they're bulbs or herbaceous perennials at least. There's no growth on the hemerocallis here yet, but I suppose they could be growing in warmer areas. Same for agapanthus which the shoots also reminded me a little of. Crocosmias are growing but they don't look like the shoots in the pic.

I just looked back at the pic and I think I see a daffodil flower bud - circled below. What do you think folks? Am I imagining it?
