As ever MD had his usal effect and I dozed off so will have to watch it again later.  Looking forward to learning more from moth lady.

OH has just asked me if anyone's commented on MD's open water collectors.   Maybe there are no mozzies in Herefordhire but here, and even in Belgium, any water butts, buckets, trays etc left open got mozzie larvae and it's also a danger for insects and frogs if there's no escape route.

Even my garden birds' water bowl has a stone in it so critters can crawl out..
I thought exactly the same as yourself @Obelixx, so a lid is necessary as far as I'm concerned.
I'd love to know more about moths, they are such undermined little creatures and beautiful.

I once sadly saw a blackbird that had drowned in a metal water trough as there was no way out for the poor thing. After that the owner of the trough (not me btw) put a log diagonally in it from the bottom to the top edge so any wildlife could climb out.

    8pm tonight.

" In a special programme, Gardeners’ World comes from the RHS Hampton Court Palace Garden Festival.

Arit Anderson, Toby Buckland and Adam Frost reveal the latest in floral fashions and share highlights of the show gardens and floral marquee. This year’s RHS Hampton Court iconic horticultural hero is Gardeners' World's own Carol Klein. Over the past three months, the programme has been following Carol on her journey to create a very special garden, and here celebrates all of Carol’s efforts and reveals the end result."

Just a reminder that there's no programme this week due to coverage of the Proms and Wimbledon.

Please forgive me mentioning a morning show, but the lovely Adam Frost was on Lorraine this morning, being his usual, gorgeous and witty self.

Earlier than usual this week, at 7pm.

"This episode comes from the biggest horticultural event in the north – the RHS Flower Show Tatton Park.

Joe Swift and Frances Tophill reveal the latest in garden design, as well as bringing plant perfection from some of the best nurseries and growers in the country. Joe shows us how to turn the smallest of spaces into a green haven, and Frances looks at the best plants to cater for nocturnal pollinators.

Also, Nick Bailey shines a botanical spotlight on begonias, and Toby Buckland visits a community in Liverpool who have regenerated their streets through collective gardening."

I enjoyed last night's programme (in fact l've saved it to watch again).
It's been a good few years since l visited Tatton, but l always found it to be a more "realistic" show than the others, and l think that came across last night.

The item about the streets in Liverpool was very inspiring, so much colour.

Havd to say l didn't see the point of the conversation with Barbara Knox (Rita in Coronation Street). It seemed to consist of repeating the words "alley", "ginnel" and "snicket" several times.
