Yellow courgettes

Can anyone recommend a “tasty” golden/yellow courgette? I’ll be training them to grow up an obelisk

  • 'Shooting Star' looks interesting ... I've not tried it, but I might well consider it this year ... if I can find room ... https://www.premierseedsdirect.com/product/courgette-climbing-shooting-star-yellowgolden/

  • Thank you! Yes I saw this variety too so will give them a try
  • I only grow bush yellow courgettes to keep them within bounds and they seem to crop  more heavily than the green varieties.
  • I grow Easy Pick Gold F1 - usually in large containers.  Reliable and prolific in most summers.
Used to grow another variety when the yellows first became available in the mid/late 90's.  Can't recall the name of that one but no longer in production.
Haven't tried other varieties as I also grow the green ones.
  • Thank you both!

We have never noticed any taste difference between the green and the yellow, and we have been growing both for years. We grow them as they add a splash of colour to food.

The yellow ones we have tried, are Soleil and Parador

Agree in that any Courgette doesn't really have a "flavour" as such - it's more how you use them and with what.
  • Thank you - some reviews say yellow courgettes taste much milder so I’m glad to hear they are same as green varieties

The main advantage of yellow ones for me is that it's a lot easier to spot the fruit and pick them small before they become zeppelins.

We find that the yellow ones have a softer skin than the green.
