@Fairygirl your daughter sounds like me, I've been known to stop  traffic so I can rescue an injured bird from the road. I had good wildlife parenting too. 😊
I've done that for a couple of birds, a barn owl and a jackdaw. They went off to the wildlife rescue center but neither survived sadly. I'll pick a winner one day. My dad picked a buzzard up off the road once and said that angry birds with a 4' wingspan aren't easy to fit in the car. That one got released once it recovered.

If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I've done that for worms  :|
Me too, I can't help myself.

@wild edges yes it's a 2 hour round trip to our nearest wildlife hospital, and it's really sad when there's nothing they can do. I cry for every one of them. 😢

Just added my birdwatch results to the 6 million already in.
Unusual count as it only took ten minutes for these to show up, unheard of. 😁
    14 house sparrows
    2 blue tits
    2 dunnocks
    1 red kite
    1 green finch
    5 black headed gulls
    2 great tits
    2 starlings
    1 robin
    2 jackdaws
    2 collard doves
    5 wood pigeons
    5 black birds
I just have to time it right, one of the two times a day when everything comes at once.

Wow! A Red Kite comes to your garden? Lucky you :)
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

I was impressed with the black headed gulls that I missed that one.
The bullfinches finally turned up here today. Too late to be counted but it's always nice to see them.

It was as I never expected them all to come. Mind you everything vanished when the Kite turned up, and the Sparrowhawk didn't put in an appearance. Both the Kite and Gulls dive bomb the garden regularly.

Don't they have to land to be counted as visiting?
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

Anything flying above and not landing doesn't count unfortunately.
