We do need a word for green area with a bit of grass, low -growing wildflowers and moss that you need to mow. Lawn doesn't seem appropriate. Green implies mostly  grass too
    Weedsward?

Greensward so we don't have to admit it's mostly stuff we don't want but can't get rid of.
But some of us like weeds - after all, think how many insects are attracted to them!!

Flies are insects. Flies are attracted to 💩
I like a lot of my weeds too.

Despite an extended spell of sub zero temperatures this winter, enough petunia Red Velour survived to allow me to take some cuttings this morning to keep the sap line going. If they take, they’ll be the great, great, great, great grandchildren of the original six.

Well done @BenCotto. I've managed 12 cuttings of a Red Velour I kept in the greenhouse over winter but, only managed to save one Silver tide velour which I'm nurturing and feeding carefully to encourage green growth to get a few cuttings from that as well.

I've also sown seed from both I collected at the end of last year which has germinated but, notice that after a 3 year cycle the seed reverts to type, as it seems cuttings are the only true way to match the parent plant from a hybrid.

Maybe stick one of your cuttings in a pot and stick it in your greenhouse over winter if you have one as an added measure to keep the line going  :D

One of last year's Red Velour has a couple of small green shoots so cuttings in a few weeks, all being well.

It looks like new 'smart' motorways could scrapped.  Next step it to ban 'smart' motorways altogether and reinstated hard shoulders on all motorways.  I never drive on the inside lane of 'smart' motorways and the powers that be can fine me if they want to.  I'd rather be live to pay the fine!
  • A beautiful sunny afternoon, here in Kent. Ideal for gardening.
Neighbours seem to have gone away for a long weekend, so it's SO peaceful.
