We get a lot of queries from first time posters ... some are not used to forums and definitely not 'au fait' with forum 'netiquette' ... if they had to navigate a whole list of do's and don'ts before making their first post they may well be deterred from asking for help, which would be a shame.

By dint of asking the right questions we ... and by 'we' I mean the wider forum membership ... usually manage to help them somehow :)

We have to remember that we are not compelled to answer ... if we don't have the time/energy etc we can choose to put our feet up and read a book ... someone else will help ... while some are very knowledgeable indeed, no one is indispensable  :)

It is so lovely that one always gets an answer, I am thrilled with it !

How do you post a part of a previous message from someone and then reply to it ?

If you press the quote 'button' @JAYJARDIN that will transfer that whole post to your new one, but - and it's a big but, it's better to do your reply below it first, so that it appears below the quote, and not within it, and it's also a good idea to remove all the bits that aren't relevant. Just highlight and backspace.
It can be quite irritating when people quote entire posts [often huge ones complete with several photos ] and then give a one line answer. It just takes up a lot of space on the page.  :)
I don't think a couple of different plants is problematic. A few photos of each, depending on time of year etc - close up, buds, foliage etc, and if the set of pix is numbered, it isn't difficult for people to see which is which. More than that is more difficult.

The general area/location is always useful. That can be tricky to add beside the avatar, but you can add it in the signature strip. I think people sometimes have to log out and back in for it to set properly.  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

I am amazed at how many people from UK end up on the USA forum..."National garden Association".

Actually I am not amazed. I have my 'puter set for "Google UK specific" but most of the search findings are USA-orientated.
