How about Ribes for the shrub?  Flowering currant.

    Hello again

The first plant has started to get some leaves but no flowers as everyone thought. Would someone able to ID it from these photos?

    Many thanks

@JAYJARDIN It might be Sorbaria Sem.  It often has suckers if that is any help.

Thanks GardenerSuze ! If it is that, it looks lovely. I put some in a glass in the kitchen and it has grown a very good root system so I'll pop this new one in the from garden once the weather warms up a bit.

@JAYJARDIN I'm not surprised it has grown easily from a cutting, as I mentioned earlier it often suckers. I don't recall seeing the flowers, it's season of interest is probably spring when the new leaves emerge. A golden colour with a hint of reddish/pink would be my description.

It does remind me of my Sorbaria Sem. If it is, it has white flowers in mid summer.

@JAYJARDIN Just to add it does look close to the edge of the path. It's suckers can become a problem too as they can form a thicket. You might see them emerging in the gravel or lawn when it becomes established. So continued maintenance is necessary.
I did cut one back late autumn each year and cleared the suckers. It is a plant I don't remember seeing years ago.

Sorbaria Sem will be used in GC's this spring, a great addition to their displays. They won't let on that it will sucker and many more gardeners will plant it unaware of problems to come.  Best planted in a large border, some shade and with other tough plants. It's lovely spring leaves can be enjoyed and then in summer, other planting in the foreground can take over. It's green leaves will  provide a good backdrop.

    Pics right way up

Pic.1. Looks as if it might be Corylopsis spicata. Just coming into flower now. The flowers have a lovely scent. If it is, I am jealous, I have tried to grow it a couple of times and lost it.

The new foliage [pic posted on 25th Jan] isn't Corylopsis.

I'd agree it looks like a  Sorbaria.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
