    It looks like there's been a mix-up.
Possibly an internet ID photo posted by mistake in the original post?

But here, for either clarification or more likely add to the confusion is my sweet woodruff, gallium odoratum, photo taken 5 minutes ago.

Very thin stems, and for want of a better description, almost all of it is lying down flat, untidy, as happens once flowering is over ( flower stalks visible.)
But this is Cumbria, not Devon, it could have a cushier life there!

  • You are right- I have got myself confused !! Sorry !!!
Been out and had another look at it and you are 100% right, it's Galium Odorata and the fleshy one is a sedum.  many thanks :) Much appreciated.

I agree with Torquay palm.  In the year of the "Beast from the East" they were even killed in Sennen.  Nice scented  date-like inflorescence.

I have a Yucca with similar leaves, but the stems are very rubbery and it has to be supported to grow straight up.  Magnificent flower spikes every 10 years here.  (Now chopped down and starting again from ground level.

The other one looks more like a shrub than a delicate woodruff to me. I would go with Daphne spp, but only to 50% confidence.
location: Surrey Hills, England, ex-woodland acidic sand.
