I agree - leaves much too big for Field acer. There are lots of field acers around here and all have the buttery yellow leaves - no hint of red in them even when they've dropped

Looks like ours is not a field maple after all. It definitely goes red, looks more like the red sycamore in the picture. If I can bring myself to head outside later, I’ll collect some leaves.
