I do wish they would reduce the preaching as it is ruining the programmes to a point I don't watch them anymore. I understand the need for it but it's just relentless and directed at probably the ones who care most and are already changing the way they live. It would be nice if they brought the message into other programming aimed at a wider population so everyone grows up with it, in the same way that the younger generation has grown up, mostly, without the prejudice of the past.
The planet being hit by large fireball that wiped out life is incredibly unlikely any time soon. Species wiped out because trillions of dollars were spent on space exploration not conservation is cast iron guaranteed.
Without space exploration and the associated technology that might allow us to see it coming and just maybe deflect it, a fireball (large meteorite) could well be what sends us extinct.
Someone did this a couple of weeks ago, the US I think, did you hear/read about it? It was on the news.

I agree. I've got this program recorded, but am not rushing to watch it. All the others have been very similar to ones done before. For a program to be watchable it should be: Funny Entertaining Educational Relaxing
I already know we're in a mess. I'm thinking i'd rather eat my own hair than watch this.
How about beautiful? Each of the programs in this, and many other DA programs were stunningly beautiful. Was I educated? Yes without a doubt. Were they relaxing? Yes. Were they funny? No, but there is plenty of other stuff for that
How can you lie there and think of England When you don't even know who's in the team
So back to @punkdoc's original point .... are we all prepared to change?
Surely we can all think of things we can do to reduce our contribution to the problem?
It's no good saying that until China or the US or India start changing it's not worth individual households in the UK doing anything.
I'm not prepared to throw in the towel yet. It has been my generation that screwed things up, and it must be our collective responsibility to try and help, even in a small way, to turn the tide.

If you have a fireball heading towards you on a straight trajectory at 1000 miles an hour, you wouldn't be worrying about choosing an appropriate tone of voice.
Given the responses we've had so far I imagine the world would come together as one to protect the shareholders.
The current political climate has shown how far we will get with any radical attempts at change. The PM announces new plans and the markets shut her down and force a total U-turn. We think we can change the world by voting but how will that ever work when the financial markets dictate policy and social media owned by billionaires has the power to influence elections?
My wife decided she wanted to have kids in early 2016. I was skeptical about the future but the world did seem to be turning in the right direction at that point. We'd survived the worldwide credit crunch and it had taught us all a lesson about trusting in the financial sector, while austerity had people trying to live more sustainably and buying locally etc. I still can't explain what happened to humanity after that point though. In the subsequent six years the world has changed so much and I don't think anyone in charge has control over it anymore. It seems like half the population would happily set fire to a mountain of tyres just to counteract any attempts to save the planet.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

I did. A successful test if I understood it right. No guarantee that they could necessarily deflect a big one on a direct collision course though.
