I wish my roses were still blooming like some of those above... fabulous for the time of year..
Yes, the hour edit time is good to know but on this often chaotic thread, it's sometimes necessary to do a separate post even within the hour as edits can just get lost, if you have a particular point to add. I do it a lot..
Purging and Bingeing.. some of us do this frequently, it's very common amongst rose obsessives... where we clear out a load of roses, only to then buy back a lot more, including some we've just purged.. lol.. One such for me is 'Bathsheba'.. which I've grown twice in different parts of the garden, and about to become a 3rd time... if you contemplate getting this rose, don't bother with a north facing site, it grows well but few blooms... give it sun..
June flush, which I find quite beautiful..
I like to cast a critical eye, and 'Bathsheba' needs deadheading frequently to look her best.. ..later blooms like these Aug/Sept can be more yellow, but also early on too..
I love the scent on this rose, but not everyone does. Lovely as a short climber, it doesn't have to get huge..
Bathsheba just thrived in the conditions this summer Marlorena, I loved it. It is 3 years old now, how long do you give yours to see if you like the whole rose as a mature specimen? I feel with the 'sleep, creep, leap' thing I should give them all that long but especially climbers. Mine end of August, it had a very long flowering season, always in bloom, not at all just in flushes. .
@Tack ..gorgeous isn't it.?.. I remember you said yours had done well this year.. I like the way the blooms on this rose are held upwards or outwards.. .. ideally I'd like to keep them 3-4 years to see their potential, but some try my patience and don't get that far.. but it doesn't do an Austin justice unless it's kept for 3 years before making a decision, they seem to change so dramatically in my conditions..
I've had 'Blush Noisette' for 12 years here and I think this will be its last summer for me, I want something else there.. an evergreen most like..
Talking of Austins, I was perusing their site.. as you do.. only to find that these 5 roses still remain available as bare roots...
Lady of Megginch Blythe Spirit The Lady's Blush Lady Salisbury Windflower
Now, I've had all those 5, nice roses in their own way, but hardly comparable to the famous ones they've archived recently.. they are nowhere near the front rank of Austins, yet they remain. I find it unfathomable..
Yet, dear little 'Sir Walter Scott'.. only arrived in 2015 - archived. Sweet little rose, suckered a bit, but it had a charm and a better scent than at least 4 of those above..

Hi, I have Bathsheba for two years now, it is not going in hight very much. It is in European Germany climate and now in wintertime end November it still give flowers while all other roses are hibernating. It is a very strong rose but sadly it sets no hips.
@Marlorena those Bathsheba pictures are amazing. Do you often grow roses onto obelisks? I’ve never done it but it looks so grand. What would rank as your top 5 Austin roses that you could currently buy now? I’m intrigued.
@Rojas do you generally find PAOK to have scent? I didn’t really get much scent from mine despite it performing well. It says ‘Strong tea’ so maybe since tea doesn’t smell much to me then maybe that’s why .
@Alfie_ My PAOK is completed the second season in the garden but I could not detect any scent during summer. I may not be good at describing the scent but I am finding it pleasant fruity tea scent. The fruity scent was much stronger when I have been to DA garden in summer and I am still waiting for my PAOK to smell that way!

I’m blaming the heat though.
Hopefully she’ll perk up again. This bloom looked pretty next to the Rosemary
