If you happen to be passing by I recommend a visit to this garden. One drawback: not all plants are labelled so can you help?

    Think the second is Broussonetia papyrifera. Not sure on the first, possibly Oenothera 'Silver Blade'?

    I think no 2 could be a Paper Mulberry (broussonetia papyrifera)

    Billericay - Essex

    It's very close to me. I haven't been there for years since they plundered the museum and made it into a 'venue'. I might pop into the garden and have a look. I used to take my daughter to see the wallabies. The museum and aquarium were great places to run around in a wet day but she liked the bones ( mummies) the best. They charge for the aquarium now. It was full of quirky exhibits including a display of ancient contraceptive devices! I watched a Navajo man doing a sand painting.
    It's all gone now.
    In London. Keen but lazy.

    That's such a shame B3.
    I used to regularly stay with my best mate in Forest Hill, never ventured into the museum but should have.

    I was really angry when I saw what they'd done to it. I took a literacy class to visit it about five years ago. It was embarrassing - but we enjoyed the picnic in the park.

    @B3 @Loxley @Hostafan1

    Nothing I can find in the GC in sleepy Luxembourg then  😂

    So many attractive places have become "venues". I guess they have to make the money somehow. I didn't go inside the museum, but I enjoyed the walk in the gardens.

    Probably best that I do that @coccinella 😊

  • @coccinella My first thought for photo one was Oenothera missouriensis. However the leaves are more green than grey and there is also a red tinge on the flowering stems. However I can recommend it if you want something for the front of the border.

    There are so many different evening primroses that is the problem and not all make good garden plants. I think @Loxley could be right with O Silver Blade.

    My favourite is Oenothera odorata Apricot Delight, yes it will seed but flowers all summer if deadheaded, plant in a warm drained sunny spot.  Works well with purples and Reds, will weave it's way around the border.
    I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
