    We had it contained in two or three layers of tyres at a previous house. It kept it confined really well. 
    Unfortunately, it also thrived very happily all along the grass at the boundary, due to the pond run off  :)
    Something like a dustbin with holes in it might do the job quite well. There's also a dwarf form, but I've never grown that, so can't say if it's easier than the bog standard one. 
    I grow I. Chrysographes, which is very well behaved too. It doesn't flower for long, but it's beautiful. There are lots of types of Iris which are suitable for pond margins, in all sorts of colours. Worth looking at some of the specialist pond nurseries to get an idea of the better behaved ones  :)
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
