I like big butts and I cannot lie! We had rain from 6pm yesterday until not sure when. My water butts are full, yippee! I also have the issue of a planned day out to the zoo on Sunday with my nephews of 2 and 4 - apparently it's definitely raining then. I can't really complain I suppose 😬
We’ve had our first rain since my 70 th ruined birthday barbecue in June .Really happy to see it but ,we are going for a beach holiday in Norfolk soon .You can’t please all of the people all of the time 😊
Slow-worm,we live near the sea ... grandkids live even nearer. We've been taking them swimming,we can't swim. We were doing country parks, animals, lama walking. Hopefully the Romney Hythe and Dymchurch railway on the way. Ironic, we've only been away 2 nights,in the past 13 years!
A large bucket on our patio had nearly 2" of water in it. That has all collected since the very hot weather over the weekend as it was bone dry at that time. Even allowing for the shape of a bucket, that's a decent amount of rain in a couple of days.
We had a couple of really brief showers here but they only kept the ground moist for a few minutes. Unfortunately the water butts haven't had any top up yet.
Someone recently said on the forum that the way to bring on rain is to announce a hosepipe ban. Well, for London, this seems to have worked. Thames Water announced the ban at 11am today. The rain started at 2pm and built into a full storm with torrrential rain by 3pm - the first of the year.
My rain barrel is full for the first time since I connected it to the new greenhouse gutters back in May. It's been quite close a couple of times in June, but it was overflowing this morning until I used some to water my cucumbers. Apparently, our local rain station had the most rain in 24 hours it's ever recorded (not sure how long it's been there, but a few years). We had some ridiculous thunderstorms yesterday

So did we @raisingirl - lots of rumbling in the distance but no rain. However, we've had some showers overnight and again this morning and certainly not the storms and downpours they forecast so I doubt there's much in the butts.
No rain now for another week.
