    Thank you for pics to show the leaves.
    That rules out suggestions of Filipendula.
    Back to the drawing board.

    The pics posted 1st August  above, do not look like Filipendula vulgaris to me.
    The leaves of which are....

    I am seeing a  normal stalk with sparse  single leaves  that are alternate and lobed./dissected.

  • I am quite sure the plant is Filipendula vulgaris, especially when looking at the flowers posted earlier, I grow it myself on my allotment and the leaves look like in above pictures if grown under less than ideal conditions, especially in very dry soil or shade. But maybe someone else has a better idea.
