Two plants (one ugly one beautiful)

Dear Members.

Two images of an ugly plant growing about 2 foot tall with white flowers.

Last image of a little blue flower about 10 inches tall, very dainty.

Never seen them before.

Any tips appreciated.

    I think the first one is beautiful … I think it’s one of my favourite wild flowers Filipendula ulmaria aka Meadowsweet … beautifully scented growing alongside  streams and in damp meadows and ditches … used by herbalists and important in British folklore etc.

    the second might be Corncockle, but the photo is too blurred to make a proper ID. 

    Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.

    I love meadowsweet too both for the fragrance and the flowers and leaves. I think the leaves look like corncockle Dove so agree with you.

    I think the second is linum perenne, perennial blue flax. The leaves look right as do the buds. I'm seeing it as blue and only know corncockle as purple.

    Yes I agree … I know corncockle as more towards the  mauve-purple part of the spectrum  … the problem is that on ‘t’internet those shades are notoriously unreliable particularly when using camera phones etc, hence my request for a better photo. 😊

    1.  Please can we see pics to show the leaves...see my pics below.
    It doesn't look quite dainty enough for Filipendula ulmaria...common name Meadow sweet.
    A super wild flower.

    2.   Agree Linum perenne.
