I have only this year discovered gaura, and I love them! Plus they seem to do ok with the heat, and just keep on flowering. I have lots of Whirling Butterflies and, to compliment size and colour, lots of Gaudi Pink. I bought them last autumn, and they overwintered well.

  • Did you buy them as plants, seeds or bulbs?

I bought them as plants at the end of last summer from The Secret Gardening Club. I have bought more to bulk them out this year from tortworthplants.co.uk and also (arriving today) from eBay.

You can also grow them from seed. I bought ""Cool white"  from Chiltern seeds and it really is a bright white  :)

Jparkers online I bought mine from last autumn. I just left them in the pots all winter and planted them end of March this year. I cut them back to 6cm once frosts had past.

They don't like too much water someone told me.

I think you've done really well - you'll have winter interest too with the grasses and other seed heads.  Some spring bulbs may be worth thinking about soon - you're probably already doing this!

I think if I can get the rest of turf cleared and finish it to bottom of the garden. I'll be happy doing that. Dug over and manured etc then go from there.

Thanks for all your feed back everyone 😃
