Also for anyone that is interested No.3 is DEFINITELY a sunflower . . unusually it has just started to flower now on 14-15th September. The sun was out yesterday but it's already turning into autumn (MAX temp is 14-15c). And that thing is massive, 140cm from soil to the top . . .AND it is growing in shallow soil, like about 1.5 inches (is that strange?). I have a feeling it probably came in with the compost I used . . . .
Very hardy things aren't they? A lot of the leaves have been completely eaten by slugs and snails.
