I'm so impressed by people who loves/likes spiders. Afraid I live in fear of them, although I think I'm much better than I were. We had a big package delivered into our lounge today, when clearing up the packaging I noticed one HUGE spider running for cover under our settee. I'll try and ignore him, but the thought is at the back of my mind that he/she might break cover and I'll do something stupid like screaming . I wouldn't kill it though, if the spider would let me I'll use a glass and cardboard to remove it, after that I'll need a stiff drink
I’m afraid of them like you JennyAster .But we do have one ( calledCharlie) that lives in the air brick in our kitchen. He only comes out at night and when we put the light on soon goes back inside the air brick. He is helping me overcome my fear and I talk to him on a regular basis ……but then I talk to my plants and the birds so maybe I’m just a daft old lady !
I've just fallen out with a spider. I have a load of birdsfoot trefoil in the garden for the bees and I noticed at lunchtime a big spider in it so I moved it as I thought it would catch a bee. I went out to find another spider has instead caught a bee in it 😭
@didyw How do you differentiate between cellar, house and outdoor spiders? I think they have all moved to my shed so I will still converse with them regardless. @jemimarose You sound as mad as me! I have heard that if you put an indoor spider outside it is certain death for them! @Jenny_Aster By the time you have found a glass and some cardboard they have usually disappeared! @bcpathome@philippasmith2 That makes two daft old ladies then. If I happen to disturb woodlice and they end up on their backs I turn them over as I don't know whether they can actually do it themselves. Don't think I have spoken to them...yet.
@jemimarose, thanks for this great thread and that really interesting information. I'm one of the lucky people who has no problem with spiders, apart from the ones that can jump, they just freak me out! I'm bookmarking this thread for updates on your spider family. 🕸️😊

She's still there and heavily guarding her babies! She's move the sac higher onto the web, it was still beneath her yesterday, so they really have only just hatched. I think they might be false widows! She has the distinctive mark on her abdomen.

Yes I did heavily research this! 😂 If you put them out while it is a similar temperature inside to out, and also put them in a sheltered part, then they should be OK. Also, this type of spider was not a natural indoor spider, like the daddy longlegs type.
