Fuscia Plant

Hi

I took a plant in after my neighbour died. She was an avid gardener. I have ZERO experience with plants :/.

It was doing ok on the corner of the garden and I was doing much. Noticed it was half empty and few months ago added new soil (asked the soil company) for something specific to the plant. It was doing very well and grew a lot.

However, recently noticed few of the flowers are dry in each bunch.

i tried feeding water every couple of days and placed it in the shade - apparently fuscia plants don’t do well in the sun.

but, still not doing well.

is it a summer thing? is it dying?
does it need food? What do I need to buy?

will include pics :)

The leaves look healthy. the flowers don't last forever. Pick off the dead blooms to encourage it to produce more .
It doesn't need special fertiliser. Jiggle a little slow release fertiliser into the top of the pot or use some liquid feed according to instructions .
It looks like whatever you're doing is right.
Can you post a picture of the whole plant so that we can make sure the pot is big enough?

That’s a lovely fuchsia, you’re  looking after it well.  You could give it a feed of Tomato feed,  sometimes called Tomorite or you could use Miracle Grow feed,  the instructions will be on the bottle or carton, whichever one you choose.
You may need to bring the plant indoors when winter comes,  some are not winter hardy.

When you pick the dead flowers off, you need to take the little green pods as well.

Thank you so much - will take a picture tomorrow morning and reply again m. Good to know as I’ve never changed the pot since I took it out my neighbours garden and will take a picture of that too. Thank you again

Thanks Lyn - much appreciated.  that’s good to know as I’ve never brought it in :/

Thank you for advice I wasn’t sure what to do with the green pods. Will remove them tomorrow.

can I ask a silly question - why is it once side of the plant has more flowers and leaves than the other side. Is it just where the sun hits it? I twisted it to the other side.

Do they like the sun or the shade? Can I place it back to it’s old location?

I’ll buy that feed you said. Do I also feed water 2-3 times a week?

Most of them do prefer shade, also if you need to put it in a bigger pot,  don’t use a black one,  they hold the heat and the plant likes cool roots.
You need to water when it feels A bit dry,  they don’t like to dry out.   No one can tell you how often to water it,    If you’ve had rain it won’t need watering.

It will like a feed about every 10 days or so,  stand it in a dish so when the feed runs through it won’t be wasted,  the plant will soak it up.

Keep turning the plant so it gets equal light.

Mine do best in full sun, I've got 2 in light shade which grow slower and flower later than the others.
Looks like yours is happy, well done!

    Hi B3

Have a attached a picture of the pot. I placed masking tape to tie the branches together I don’t know how
else as one was bending over. I hope the plant is ok size. One side def has more flowers but I’ve moved it towards the sun and changed sizes. Today removed all dead flowers and the green seed thing/bulb. Many thanks
