Large tortoise shells! Yeay Knepp. They are now migrating over from the continent.
"It has been a bountiful season for wildlife at Knepp, with record
numbers of nightingales – 40 singing males – recorded on the estate this
summer alongside a record nine nests of storks, which have been reintroduced and have already attracted other wild storks from the continent."
I used to park up there for a sandwich and a drink on my way back from visiting my Aged Ps when they were very frail … it was a great place to ‘gather my thoughts’ afterwards …. a little stroll if the weather was kind … but I even heard booming while sitting in the carpark.

It looks wonderful. I had to cut short my East Anglian trip but I still have a hankering to explore of the area's wildiness. I didn't realise (or forgot) that Peter Beales is just outside Norwich too...
The Land Healer - a book on the power of regenerative farming, by Jake Fiennes. He worked at Knepp and was also a game keeper.
He has become conservation manager at the vast and beautiful Holkham
estate in north Norfolk, where his ideas about sustainable agriculture
and landscape management have been put into practice on a massive scale.
