Mole hill soil

Can anyone who has used mole hill soil tell me if it's a good idea to use it as a mix with John Innes No3 compost. I'd like to use it as a mix in my pots to give the compost a bit more body which is sadly lacking in today's composts, but I can imagine there would be issues with weeds etc being trapped in the soil. Many thanks.

    I wouldn't worry about it. Seeds will settle onto the compost anyway.

    Yes, definitely use it,  I collected mine this year, added perlite for seed growing and mixed it with home made compost and a sprinkle of bone meal for plants. 
    I’m going to try not to have to buy compost next year.
    Never again will I hunt the moles down. They’re my friends from now on.

    I used it in pots and raised beds this year and no noticeable weed problem occurred.

    I'm with @Lyn The soil from mole hills is excellent - the moles have done the work for you and the soil is beautifully friable and easy to use.  
    I'm surprised that no entrpreneur has yet started a Mole Farm in order to sell some decent compost ;)

    Using mole hill soil was always recommended traditionally for potting.

    Exactly,  I really can’t see the difference with using soil and HM compost,  you’re going to plant out anyway,  and for people who sow veg straight into the ground, what do you need bought compost for.
    My dad  and OH’s on the farm didn’t sow everything in trays and pots of bought compost first.
    I know there are a lot of people who can’t do composting for various reasons, but there’s a lot of us who can.
