    That silvery backside is a pointer isn't it

  • Thank you folks. I'll see if I can get a better picture during lunch. Still no flower. It sprouted really quickly but doesn't seem to be doing much now. I put a passion flower near that area last year but it died and the leaves on this newly sprouted plant look different. 
    I'm worried about ground elder. I bought what I thought was an elder tree last year but that's not what came up. I pulled all of that out. This new plant is 4m away from that sight but worried it's the same thing. Can't remember what those leaves looked like.

    It's definitely not ground elder, so relax :)

    Ground Elder has nothing to do with an Elder Tree, not even related. Also, Ground Elder is an Umbellifer, your plant isn't.

  • Thank you. That's a relief. The Centaurea would make sense. There was a pot of cornflowers near there before I changed the garden. So perhaps self-seeded? I don't remember the leaves looking like that but I'm no expert....as you've probably realised by now!! 😂
