Identification

A plant has sprung up quite suddenly but don't remember planting it. It's low growing so far. I wonder if anyone knows what it is? It doesn't look like any of the normal weeds I get in the garden. Many thanks, M

It looks like hogweed to me, but see what others think.

Second thoughts, it has more leaflets than hogweed?

No, I don't think it is hogweed. It looks familiar but I can't identify it.
    Maybe @nutcutlet will know?

    How about ragwort?
Since 2019 I've lived in east Clare, in the west of Ireland.

A long time ago I grew centaurea 'John Coutts'. It sprouted from the ground in similar fashion to the first photo. It was one of those plants with two types of foliage if I remember rightly. I thought of it when I first saw the post, but looking on Google I can't see a picture of juvenile foliage, so really can't say for sure.  It's a long shot as it's such a long time since I grew it.

Edited to add: I'm probably looking for a silk purse in a sow's ear......
I'm not really familiar with ragwort, but maybe it's that, as @Liriodendron suggests.

Not Hogweed, not ragwort, not Geum urbanum …

    but what it is 🤔 … where’s @nutcutlet?

I’ll have a look in my trusty Keeble-Martin… but without a flower …???

I can’t think of anything where the leaves change quite like that …

Valerian officinalis springs to mind but not sure why … 😵‍💫

Back of leaf appears to be a whitish silver?

I think @Woodgreen is close with the Centaurea, seeing the whole thing in one pic would be good
