    Good list.
I would have suggested Cluny gardens at Aberfeldy but very sadly in the gales many big trees blew down and to remove them on the steep hillside will take ages.
So for now they are closed.
Previously a super /rather special woodland garden.
I dread to think how many rare /special plants have been lost.

Oh @Silver surfer that's so sad about Cluny.
We had a lovely visit there a few years back. We had the place to ourselves, just all the red squirrels for company.
Got some lovely Cardamine enneaphylla there.

A truly special and atmospheric garden.

The devastation to trees up here after the gales is so sad.
    Edzell was hit very badly.

i was visiting an open garden last week in Glen Prosen...Inchmill Cottage.
A small treasure of a place.
Many old mature beech and oaks were felled on the road up from Kirriemuir.

It was bad here too @Silver surfer .... nobody in Borders is short of firewood.
We lost a very large oak  .... so sad to see it brought down.

Bee witched So sad to lose your old oak.

I have a very large oak right behind my wee house...belongs to neighbour.
If it ever comes down I will be a goner.

Perhaps not a bad way to go. I speak for myself.

Hopefully some of the fallen trees can stay in place and degrade slowly over decades.

I think that will happen by default @Fire ..... far too many to be logged up and taken away.

We also have a very large, old oak at the end of our drive @Silver surfer .
We love it, but if it comes down in the direction of the house we will be toast.
We have it checked out regularly by a tree surgeon as there are some limbs overhanging the lane.

Prior to the storms we had to have 5 diseased ash trees felled in our woodland.
We've been planting some new ornamental trees in the garden to compensate.

    Prunus serrulata 'Tai Haku'
    Acer platanoides 'Crimson King'
    Liquidambar styraciflua 'Lane Roberts'
Liriodendron tulipifera .... always fancied one of these,
    Sorbus aria 'Lutescens'
    and Nyssa sylvatica.

All doing well so far. Once we've cleared up all the ash in the woodland we'll plant some native trees in there.

Retirement? We've never been so busy!
