Gardens to visit in Scotland

aidanhoadaidanhoad Posts: 174
Hi all,

I have some guests at my guesthouse that have asked about gardens along the route from Inverness to Glasgow - wondering if anyone knows of any?

Many thanks!
Aidan.

    Hi @Uff

No, they didn’t but I’m not sure it matters really as long as they see gardens!

    Thank you.

If they decide to come down the A82 along Loch Ness there's Abriachan Nurseries/Garden which will be lovely at the moment and can highly recommend it.

If they come down the A9 and then cut across to Glasgow there's Blair Athol Castle garden.

There is Pitlochry Scottish Plant Collectors Garden, set in woodland and a must see but their website tells me that it's temporarily closed but worth checking out.

Carrying on down the A9 there's Dunkeld which has a beautiful woodland walk to The Hermitage overlooking the river. Not a garden as such but worth seeing.

Into Perth and there's Branklin Garden, also lovely.

Plenty there to be going on with and I can recommend them all. Many more to see though.

This isn't really on the way, but they might want to detour. It would be a great time to visit.

My pleasure aidanhoad. All the gardens are quite stunning in the autumn too especially The Hermitage. The A9 around that area looks like it's on fire with autumn colours and hopefully, you might be less busy to be able to visit at that time of year.

@Uff - I am always so excited in the springtime to see the garden coming to life after the harsh winters that we have, but I have to say I do find that the autumn is so beautiful - thanks for the suggestion, will most definitely try and get down there this coming autumn.

@punkdoc - I love Inverewe, haven't managed to go in a few years but it's not all that far from me here really... enjoy!

We regularly holiday in and around Gairloch, my favourite place in the world.

I have video that I transferred to dvd's of most of the gardens in Scotland that we visited and to watch it now is amazing. The memories that it brings back are truly wonderful. My photographs are lovely too but the video brings it all to life.
