How many colours do you have in your garden?

I remember that garden shown in one of the first episodes in GW in 2020, when a nice lady showed her garden which looked very well kept and you could see the effort she was putting into her garden. But as much as I adored her work, when the borders were visible in a wider angle, it looked boring. There were 5 or 6 groups of a yellow, red, orange flowering plants and that pattern repeated. In the same episode, Monty said, "remember, a border needs only 7 colours/plant types".
How have you arranged the planting in your garden?

That is to say, my priority is in learning what plants go where, how to make them thrive and then worrying about styling it out later. As I look out, I see a lot of green (honeysuckle, grapevine, sedges, calamagrostis, molinia and all the pond plants) with a fleck of orange (primula bulleyana) and a dot or two of blue (iris Perry Blue). Just waiting on the white cloth of the pyracantha, which is budding up nicely.
I have cottagey plants like astrantia, delphiniums, rudbeckia, roses, campanulas, asters, hardy geraniums, daffodils, hostas, ferns, phlox, various shrubs and trees etc.
I plant according to conditions and what plants like, shade, sun, damp, dry etc.
I don't think it was Monty who said 7 plants, unless he was talking about a specific area like his Paradise garden. I think Joe Swift said you can use fewer plants and repeat them. Monty has said repeat them but he has masses of different plants and a very big garden.
My garden used to be predominantly pinks, blues and purple, but these days there's yellow, orange and red in there as well. I do use white to calm things down now and again, but (especially over the last 2 years) l want colour in my life.
Having said all that, l did love the Perennial show garden at Chelsea with its understated colour scheme. Oh to have the space for "garden rooms" 😊
