Anyone used Larch Cottage Nursery?

Pete.8Pete.8 Posts: 11,340
I've decided to get a Cotoneaster lacteus for a south facing spot in the garden.
Larch Cottage Nursery have them in 7.5L pots but some of the mail-order reviews on Google are rather mixed, so I wondered if anyone's had a good or bad experience using them.
Thanks

I've been to the nursery and bought several times Pete.8 but never ordered online.
The plants are well cared for, a good selection and pricey. The last time I was there was about 9 months ago and due for another visit very soon. Bet a fiver Woodgreen has been there.

We visit reasonably regularly, I find them a little expensive but a huge range of plants that seem well looked after. Sorry haven’t used them mail order

I've ordered on line with them just once - very good, no problems.. well packed and took about 2 weeks if I recall.. email notifications etc.   I got 2 conifers..
I've also been there a few times on visits to The Lakes..

Thanks @uff - yes most of the reviews of the garden centre are positive, but there's a a number of poor reviews of their mail order service - which in fairness is possibly more down to the courier
I'm in no rush so will have a look locally too
£35 seems reasonable for a 7.5L pot with an 80cm plant

    I must recommend Larch Cottage.
No idea re mail order .
But on way home from holidays in Scotland to Wales it was a must place to visit...to squeeze a few more treasures into an already full boot.

    Yes pricey.
But so much choice..plants healthy...always did well.

Boot almost full, but not yet been to Larch Cottage for even more plants!
I think I sat with a plant on floor and one /two on my lap.

    Many many times @Uff.

Their range of plants is a joy to wander through, the nursery is something special, always has been.

My only disappointment has been mis-labelling. Plants bought very early in the season have sometimes turned out to be not what they were labelled as. Personal circumstances at the time meant that I didn't have the time to complain or make a return visit to return them (and in one case the tree was three years planted before the berries gave the game away) but I would think they'd have been fair with me if I had. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Agree they are on the pricey side.

I've only ever bought on visits so I'm afraid I can't comment on their mail order @Pete.8

Very high delivery costs, as I recall.

    Thanks for all your replies.
Good to know that you received a good service @Marlorena

You'll need to attach a trailer next time you visit @Silver surfer

You make an interesting point @Fire
I've looked at their delivery charges and they don't mention any cost but they do say min order £19.99 excluding carriage
I'll pop out to a few nurseries in the next few days and see if I can track one down, if not I'll give them a call and ask about delivery cost

Just to add that I love Silver surfer's car chocker block with plants  :) It makes me feel so much better knowing that I'm not the only one. You should have seen what I brought back from Derbyshire last week.

I just love visiting Larch Cottage ... always come away with lots of special plants.
Have never bought mail order from them, but the plants in the nursery are all well grown and have all done well for me.

I like the fact that they arrange the plants in the nursery in alphabetical order.
Makes it so much easier to find what you want.

Can recommend the coffee & cakes .... and the lunches.
The family have now started opening the garden for visits too.
