That may be how you find your mate/s ... some of us have evolved beyond that and chose our mates based on compatibility.
Male Peacocks will display to anything - vehicle wing mirrors being a favourite. As per @Dovefromabove, I doubt many of us use this particular method in the hopes of attracting a mate. Apart from anything else, I've yet to see a human, cosmetically altered or not, who can beat a Peacock in full mode. However, they are also incredibly noisy and tend to spend their nights in trees - possibly not the attributes you are looking for in a lifetime companion

I got a few answers and can live without what seems to concern you for the most part.
