Hello all,

i have planted this camellia 3 years back. It was growing beautifully. But suddenly since last week it’s leaves 🍃 started browning. This plant is planted in semi shed area and only get sun in morning. New leafs were coming(as shown in picture 1) then today those leaves also wilted. Do I still have a chance to save it ?

I did gave camellia plant specific plant food as well. And watering everyday when it doesn’t rain.

Is the ground well drained? Camellias like moisture, but they don't appreciate sitting in soaking wet soil long term.
Morning sun is the worst aspect for them too. Sun on frosted foliage is very damaging.
Is that stake going through the roots?

Feeding a plant when it's not doing so well isn't always helpful, it can be too strong. Strange for it to start looking poorly after 3 years though. I'm wondering if vine weevil grubs eat camellia roots.
Doncaster, South Yorkshire. Soil type: sandy, well-drained

Yes - feeding is a bad idea for a struggling plant.
It could be that @JennyJ. Not something I've ever experienced on shrubs, but I think some people have had that happen.

Maybe it’s been watered from the top and then had the sun on it.  The leaves are burnt on the high spots.

Yes ground is well drained. Just two weeks back started to see this otherwise since few years same spot it was doing fine. Do u recon it’s dead and cant save it now ?

Fed plant when it was doing great. But since past few weeks it’s showing this kind of symptoms. Do you think it’s dead now and cant be saved?

It’s not dead, it  looks like there’s fresh green leaves coming out.
Give it a bit longer,  they’re hard to kill,  we cut one right off level with the ground thinking it would give up,  it grew new shoots in all directions.

It had flowers as well. I strongly feel smthing wrong with roots. If that was a case then it sud burn when we had temperature 30 degrees. It’s planted at a shedded position. If that make sense.

    Are you in the UK?
It's also very near that wall. What else is round about it too?
It's a very small plant, even for three years old. What condition is the soil in and what pH? They don't like alkaline soil.
The soil doesn't really look great at all. If the soil's in good condition, they don't need fed either - just regular applications of compost, bark or leaf mould will keep it healthy, and also keep the soil structure right.
