I think it best to move it, so that it has some room to grow. Hopefully, it won't be too late, in terms of the tree's age. I'll do this when it's dormant, in October?
@paulpuk2000 I have a huge A Briliantissimum which with hind sight I wish I had never planted. It is now home to so many creatures that it has to stay. Lovely in spring for a few weeks then leaves bleach with the sun. This is followed by alsorts of things that attack the leaves. In the winter without leaves it does have a lovely shape. It can be pruned but mine is just too old. No idea how or when it can be pruned sorry.
I have worked as a Gardener for 24 years. My latest garden is a new build garden on heavy clay.
