bonariensis query

A recently bought Verbena bonariensis from my local supermarket. Do you think it could be split in two, or would I get a better display if it was left as it is. It's in a 5" pot and was ridiculously cheap.

Mine self seed so easily that I cut then down when they look tatty in the winter and if the frost gets them I always have more. I have never tried to divide
