Not at all @punkdoc - they are beautiful. That's a great shot. We hoped to see some, but had no luck.
I was up there about 10 years ago and just as we arrived at the place we were staying one ran across the road about 30 metres in front of the car. I thought that must be a good sign that they would be everywhere but that was the only one we saw for the entire trip.
If you go back up that way I can recommend the Ardnamurchan peninsula area, or anywhere along that coastline really. Amazing wildlife everywhere.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.
I've never seen such a wide variety of lichens and mosses. I'm no expert and can't ID, but they were dripping, cascading and coating every tree; crispy, lush, hairy, pale, soft, blackened. More like epiphytes or Spanish moss in a rainforest.
Good to see rewilding profiled at Chelsea this year and the 'beaver garden' winning a gold medal and getting 'best in show'. It's high time that the tide turns.
