Trip to the Kingussie area in Cairngorm National Park

    I've recently been up in the same part of the world and red Squirrels regularly visited the bird feeders in the garden.

    Not at all @punkdoc - they are beautiful. That's a great shot. We hoped to see some, but had no luck.

    It was wonderful to hear cuckoos calling all over the areas. I haven't heard them for years, down south. The numbers seem to be doing well in that Kingussie spot.

    Other birds I spotted and/or heard (along with the ones given above) included
    willow warbler in huge numbers
    stone chat
    coal tit
    buzzards
    chiff chaff
    long tailed tits
    curlew
    dipper
    tawny owls
    nuthatch
    tree creeper

    In the area are golden eagles, ptarmigan, black grouse, little owl and capercallie, among other glorious and endangered birds.
