Let it grow to the top of the canes then pinch the tops out. It’ll have new flowers every morning but they’ll go over by afternoon so if you can put it somewhere where it doesn’t get full sun early morning the flowers last longer. But it does need sunshine.

It’s a ‘tender annual’ so it can go on the compost heap when the colder autumn weather comes.

    Enjoy 😊
Thank you that’s very helpful, I just want my 7 year old to see it flower as he’s so invested in its growth

You can also collect the seeds if you let a few of the flowers go to seed instead of deadheading them. I've got more than I can ever use probably.
Then you can have plants next year. They're quite easy to sow and grow  :)
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

    Oh that’s good to know!
I did try to do that with sunflower seeds but went to take a look at them snd they were mouldy 🫣 I’m not sure what went wrong 😑

The seeds need to be nice and dry and ready for taking from plants. They may not have been quite at that stage. If they were fine, it may be down to how you stored them. A little paper bag - an envelope is fine- and a nice cool dry place to keep them until they get sown. If they get damp they'll just tend to rot   :)

We were given seeds a few years ago and tried sowing directly in the ground. No good. So the following years we have sown indoors and transplanted when seedlings. Fabulous plants and such a lovely colour to brighten the morning.
