I think it looks like coltsfoot too, but it can be quite invasive in the right spot. The foliage can be more rounded as it matures. We have great swathes of it around here. It starts as small yellow flowers that look a bit like dandelions, then the foliage appears.
No flowers yet fairygirl, quite a few little shoots on the edges of the pot and white roots showing through the bottom so I’ll pot it on and see what develops from it and update. I can do without invasive plants though.
The flowers come first with coltsfoot, so it can't be that. The foliage does look similar though. Just grow it on and see what it looks like, then you might get a better ID for it - especially if it flowers
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
Good to know I can probably discount coltsfoot. I think it’s spreading from the central plant which died down over the winter so some sort of perennial I’d probably grown but never flowered in the first year last year possibly. Doesn’t mean it’s desirable though as I sometimes grown on things received without knowing what they’re like so they stay in pots for a while.
I wonder if it's a Ligularia. Many have large quite rounded leaves, with a bit of indentation. If it's that, they need plenty of moisture, and some sun, but it's best to just let it tick over for now.
