Does anyone know what these are?

I've just bought my first Peony and then went looking for some support - decided to get a grow through ring which has 3 legs.  I then went into my garage and found these items in a drawer - typical.
I think the one with the grid is a grow through support but there are no legs with it, have no idea what the other two half rings are - do they just slot into the ground low down or are they something else?
Can you buy the leg parts separately for the full ring?

just a guess, but unless there are some bits missing are you supposed to pop them in bamboo canes?

The other two half rings are also plant supports to stop them flopping forward

I have no idea lol - given the tiny legs on the two half rings wouldn't they be far too low to support anything?  The full circle with the grid is nearly identical to one I just bought on amazon but that had 3 legs with a hook at the top so you could attach and then push into the ground.

Yes - you'd need those legs that hook over, but you might be able to fashion something yourself. Not sure you'd be able to buy the legs on their own, but worth a Google .  :)

The slot on the full one is interesting though. They're usually just a complete circle that gets put over the plant from above. Maybe it's designed for a single stem plant though- delphiniums or similar, with the surround containing the foliage spread. Quite tricky to position I'd think though.
It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...

They are indeed plant supports and the 'tiny legs' slot into uprights which go into the ground. As the plant grows, the upper section may thus be raised by pulling the uprights . It might be worth another search in the garage, just in case there is more to be found.

You can buy the legs without the rings here

    It’s a good company; I recommend them.

That size ring will be OK for a couple of years but, once the peony bulks up, I think you’ll need something twice the size and 2’ legs, maybe higher.

Brilliant - thanks Ben, on that site now ..... I didn't know Peonies grew so big, got it from Lidl for a good price so will see if it's happy in my sunniest border.

Fairygirl - yeah the full grid is unusual the one's I've seen only have 1 complete bar across within and I've seen them used on youtube but it's best to put those in when the plant is tiny.

Posy - I've looked and looked - I bet I had them at one point - I've now totally organised the garage so I know where everything is so I don't buy something I already have :D

Hey Ben, that site is brilliant - I'm going to buy a proper Peony support and some legs for my spare rings.  Have you seen the sizes the rings go up to? They're massive!
