@Nollie When we adopted a 4 month old female pup our older female dog let her bully her unmercifully, play biting, too hard sometimes, being a thorough nuisance despite our efforts and the older girl rarely did more than give an occasional growl which was ignored.

One day, pup had been doing her usual thing when older dog suddenly decided she’d had enough and suddenly leapt up and chased pup across the floor, snarling, (unheard of for her) as she pursued her. Pup raced ahead of her with tail tucked under her and took refuge under a table. You could almost see the smile of satisfaction on older dog’s face. She then returned to her place on the rug and lay down. Pup eventually emerged  and after a cautious approach lay peaceably beside her and from that day, was much more respectful.

Writing this to try and give you a ray of hope😀. If your older one doesn’t teach the little one, other dogs certainly will.

Just for you @WhereAreMySecateurs - walking in an unfamiliar (to her) part of the woods this morning, a wary Smudge kept close to Bill and waited until we were back near the house before jumping him!

    Poor Bill!

They are really beautiful dogs, and look so at home in the woods.
