Yeah, go Sandra, she’s probably still causing trouble on the other side. Enjoying your doggy stories and photos. It does seem to be easier when the older dog is female.

Nollie, soon after hubby and I got together I had to have my long hair collie PTS, she was 12,kept collapsing on walks, but wouldn't even wee in the garden. He had a pretty little fiesty dog, looked like a cross between a sheltie and long hair daxi. She was about 16,we went to animal rescue places, certain very well known large one, said we had to have a dog,as we already had a bitch. They also decided my quarter acre garden, backing onto fields, was "medium sized", this was a 1940s house, asked her what she called modern house gardens! Hubby would only consider a border collie or JR. Had a border as a teen, that didn't satisfy them. We got a bitch from a Sussex farm, his dog had had to be PTS by now,at 18,we did everything you're not meant to.....got another bitch from another farm,(she was a freebie) when she was 6 months old, they were both absolutely fine together, plus our 2 rescue cats.
The opposite here, NannyB, rescue centres will foist anything on anyone since they are overrun with problem dogs and abandoned ex-hunters that don’t make good pets.
I do think an older pup/dog would’ve been less stressful for old Bill. However, of the three we considered from three different breeders, one was an ex breeding bitch that was totally bonkers, a sweet one-year old the careless breeder allowed to get pregnant by a sibling and the 3-yr old we really wanted, that breeder wanted an extortionate amount for, took any questions as an affront to his Andalucian masculinity and then ghosted us!
At least the pup breeders we eventually found in Valencia were a lovely caring couple, the dogs were very much a part of the family, we met both parents and all their dogs of all ages seemed happy and well-adjusted. So there is hope for little Smudge!
I’ll keep plugging away and update you all on progress.

@Nollie is it possible to socialise the pup with older dogs who are a bit more assertive? If the pup discovers that it can't boss everybody it may back off a bit with your other dog. Just a thought.
That’s in the plan @KT53 we have several home visits to doggy households soon 😃 She came out to lunch with us today, met a huge Mastin/Great Dane and a cat (both of which she was extreme wary of) and the restaurant’s ancient little heinz 57. That and a double car trip to pick up OH from the airport and then the restaurant outing has really knackered her mentally and physically so she wasn’t quite so aggressive to Bill on her return.

She is gorgeous and I think in time they will inseparable.
When I saw the picture it really brought back memories as she is a spit for my dog Ellie at that age. I don't have any pics on here of her then but this is her at 8 months
^ very cute, sorry I missed your post somehow @the victorian.

Well the wee un has been socialised to death and had lots of play dates with dogs of all ages and sizes, kids, other adults, restaurant and bar visits etc., plus breezily coped with a load of family and friends staying. She is now a confident young lady that respectfully interacts well with people and other dogs. She is doing really well at training and is joining Bill and us for short walks.
The downside? Her biting, bullying assaults on poor Bill continue relentlessly, if anything it’s got worse as her confidence grows. He is beginning to snarl and fight back a little though and got her to (very briefly) submit twice for all of 5 seconds. Then she renews her onslaughts. So that issue is ongoing and we still have to intervene when it gets out of hand. At least we’ve had the odd glimmer of hope!
