What is this shrub please?

    Carmarthenshire (mild, wet, windy). Loam over shale, very slightly sloping, so free draining. Mildly acidic or neutral.

    I think that's Viburnum lantana, Wayfaring tree, rather than V. rhytidophyllum

    I also thought it could be a wayfaring tree, viburnum lantana, but I'm not familiar with rhytidophyllum.

    Here are photos from two today.....these shrubs are not cosseted, they are understorey beneath trees and don't get much sun.

    @Woodgreen, rhytidophyllum is a much deeper green with longer, coarser leaves. A rather gloomy looking shrub to me though I do have some.

    I love V rhytidophyllum  but understand it is not for everyone.

    I don't like the way that furry stuff falls off the leaves and gets everywhere and itches like mad til shower time

    @nutcutlet Iv'e worked that one out, generally I keep away but if it needs pruning it is a the last job of the day.
