Do you think it would be a good idea to introduce a new category purely for plant identification?

    Actually that statement is not quite true because if I was unable to identify something at the time but had inspiration a few days later finding the post would be easier. That scenario is extremely unlikely.

    What's needed is threads that are permanent fixtures, as other forums have - ie ones for growing tomatoes, lawns, trees, acers etc. 
    Another random category is pointless as very few people bother with it and use recent posts/discussions instead.
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    I think a Plant Identification thread could be very useful. I do enjoy reading them, but don’t always see them. They can pop up in the Plant thread, or the Problem solving one, and even in the potting shed. And I can miss them when the title doesn’t clearly state it’s a plant id request. I’d welcome such a thread.

    The Trip Advisor forum use to have a useful feature called traveller articles. Somebody with tips to share - advice on visiting the Tower of London, for example - would write a brief article that others could adapt or update. Those articles were easy to access and reference.

    I’m sure there must be dozens of frequently asked questions on this site that could be covered by such an approach.

    I asked the question because there seem to be so many identification requests in all of the categories. 
    If the ID were all under one heading the experts amongst us could spend a happy hour or two researching the answer, if they needed to, and responding.
    The questioners would have a specific place to submit their question and not feel silly for asking orwondering where to enter their request for help. 
    I have always assumed we all use the site in a way to suit ourselves.
    It was only a passing thought.

    I thought there was some etheral being who managed the site, floating around in the ether. Someone to create categories, take down unwanted postings etc.

    The UI of Gardeners Corner Forum is a lot better in that regard.
