I considered the greenhouse @fidgetbones but was a little worried about the garden extension lead cord being out in the rain.

Think I might need to make an extension lead out of pond cable.

That Lichen Beauty is a beautiful looking moth, such lovely patterns on the wings.

Also... great news regarding the Oaks, hopefully the traps will work.

the cord is fine in the rain, just make sure any joins or connectors are kept dry.

No problem... I have a waterproof RCD socket in the garden and a couple of those dry boxes that plugs and sockets go into, will see how bad the rain is going to be tonight.

I was gutted I didn't put the trap out last night because it stayed dry.

Same as last week when I left it in the greenhouse just in case. It was dry all night.

Nice photos @Sheps B) that's a great bit of licheny wood to use as a photo perch. The trap looks great too.
I had mine out last night and had a few moths in but nothing of note. I had the only footman moth I've seen all year though and I was getting them every time last year. The temperature was barely double figures though so I wasn't expecting anything at all.
If you can keep your head, while those around you are losing theirs, you may not have grasped the seriousness of the situation.

Thanks @wild edges I went on a perch hunt the other morning  :open_mouth:

In the trap were the following.

    Satin Moth x1
    Large Yellow Underwing x10
    Flame Shoulder x2
    Common Wainscot x3
    Common Carpet x1
    Rosy Rustic x1
    Hart & Dart x1

And one of the Thorns that I'll be needing your help with when I post it tomorrow.

    Unidentified escapes x10

    And 8 Micros

Gorgeous images @Sheps. Heck - the licheny twig would have been good on it's own!

I take it the moths are easy to 'persuade' to pose on your perch?
    Clay soil - Cheshire/Derbyshire border

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

    Thanks @LunarSea

Easy enough to get them on your finger but, tricky to get them to pose in the right place.

Once the warming up process had begun, the vibrating of the wings, I placed them in the Honeysuckles at the top of the garden to hide until ready to fly.

So, not much time to capture the images unfortunately.
