Garden Lawn problem...

I am hoping that someone could advise me on what is happening to my lawn.  This year it seems to be under attack from something in the soil and the issue is spreading from the edges inward.  Any ideas to what it is and what I can do restore my lawn?

My best guess is that it's just too dry at the base of the wall (rain shadow) to support grass.
There might be foundations/footings that are wider than the visible wall and make the soil shallower there too. And possibly something leaching out of the bricks or mortar - I can't tell what the white stuff on the surface of the bricks is and I don't know whether it would affect the grass.

I think it might be something to do with the rain shadow caused by the wall.

Looks like your wall is lime mortar, and possibly the white stuff is salts leaching out. Also could be too dry from the rain shadow as mentioned above. For all 3 I would suggest the solution would be lots of watering or the easy long term option to dig a border or add an edging of brick or something rather than grass right up to the wall

I don’t think is this anything to do with the wall as this problem is in other parts of the garden away from walls.

Could you most a couple of photos of the other areas please ? Maybe it's some kind of drainage issue.

Hmm not sure then. It does look very dry in the pictures, but I wouldn’t expect the grass to die back that much at this time of year. Have you used any kind of weed and feed or chemical near it?
