Can I know how you germinated the seeds please? I've sowed two batches of cayenne pepper seeds and put them on a south-facing warm windowsill but so far nothing is happening yet....
Sounds like the only thing we did differently to you is have them on a heated mat for a few weeks. But we started them in January cos we got over-excited and couldn't wait! 🤣
Yeah I wondered how people managed to sow then in Jan/Feb. No I don't have a heated mat so only sowing now
It is much too early to put chillies outside. They need heat, heat, and more heat. I would only move them outside if I had a very hot, sheltered corner to stand them. I start mine off on a window sill inside their own mini greenhouse, a clear plastic fruit/meat container. When the weather has warmed up and they have several proper leaves they are repotted and move into the unheated double glazed conservatory. Eventually, they are repotted once more before being moved into the greenhouse. Some varieties make big plants so space can be an issue, as well as adequate staking.
Have a look at a commercial chilli farm and you will see the ideal way of growing them, overhead misting, underground watering, heating, light and free circulating air for pollination.
