    Yes - same rules apply; water well, but ensure you have good drain holes, feed appropriately and pick regularly.

    Yes, although depending on which chillies you are growing they may well need less room than tomatoes per plant.

    Thanks Penny. We've got Jalapenos, Poblano, Pot Black, Padron and Bhut Jalokia (which came as a novelty kit for my partner at Christmas and we're stunned that it's actually grown!)

    Can I know how you germinated the seeds please? I've sowed two batches of cayenne pepper seeds and put them on a south-facing warm windowsill but so far nothing is happening yet....

    You are doing everything right.  I expect you keep the soil moist?

    Just be patient is all I can say - except:   I sowed some at the end of February into an unheated conservatory - they are up beautifully.  I sowed some more about 3 weeks later and there is no sign of life!!  Same batch of seeds.  Same compost.  Same position.

    Maybe sow a few more before it gets too late.
    A good hoeing is worth two waterings.

    Thanks! I'll try sow more this weekend then. Or I'll get desperate and buy some seedlings  :D

    Chillies can take 3/4 weeks to germinate. They need heat as well as light to do well. I sowed 4 seeds in one pot over a month ago, 1 came up 2 weeks ago, another has just poked its head through so there is no telling. Patience is needed. They also seem to need a long growing season, I have found those sown in Jan./Feb. do better than later sown ones.

    Sounds like the only thing we did differently to you is have them on a heated mat for a few weeks. But we started them in January cos we got over-excited and couldn't wait! 🤣

    Good advice I think.  Mine are now 5-7" tall in front of a large SE window and looking great; sown in early February. No flowers yet but looking really healthy and dark green and not elongated. I have 14 but I'm a novice at pepper growing.   What do I do now?  Should I keep them inside or harden them off for growing outside in pots? 
    Based in Sussex, I garden to encourage as many birds to my garden as possible.
