My neighbour had a Gtech which was great if the grass hadn't been allowed to get too long, or wasn't wet. It couldn't cope with either of those situations well.
If you have a small lawn and are the type of person who keeps on top of the lawn rather than letting it get too long, push mowers are brilliant. No noise (except the mechanical whirr), no wires, no battery to recharge. It's all very simple, and cheap.
"What is hateful to you, do not do to your neighbour".
I wish I was not so impatient. Thought I had done well this time in reviewing mowers and coming on here for advice before buying but then jumped in and bought one before I had all replies. Ah well, bought a Ryobi one although have seen since that Spear and Jackson get better reviews. Not used it yet, looks ok but was not impressed with the soft cloth like bottom of collection bin. My electric one was all hard plastic. Time will tell, I am sure that it will be ok, thank you all for your replies

Welcome to cordless mowing - it has a lot of benefits 👍
It's worth considering what other battery tools in the range are compatible, as once you have a mower, if you need to buy other tools later it's useful to get stuff that shares the same battery (strimmer, hedgetrimmer, leafblower etc). I have a Stiga but I would probably look elsewhere next time, as the batteries constantly physically jam inside the mower and other tools
I like our Bosch, inexpensive compared to others and replaced two petrol ones which were pita and stopped working after a year each time. The Bosch is doing our large garden with the help of 3 batteries. The only thing it doesn’t like is wet grass but I can live with that, it’s light enough for little old me to do.

I play with plants and soil and sometimes it's successful

Is your grass all on the level, @Ilikeplants?
