It's grey here and has been wet but just drizzle really.  Just a light breeze so 10C and no wind chill.  Set to be a bit drier and slightly sunny tomorrow so I shall go out and plant my shallots and white onion plugs in the bed OH  is preparing today with lots of mulch and strimmed long grass as weed suppressors.

I, meanwhile, am picking my way through 3.5kilos of oiled limquats to remove all the pips before completing the marmalade process.  Sewing for me this pm.   Had a very good day at patch yesterday with over a dozen ladies attempting the strip piecing techniques and all coming up with different results cos of fabric and design choices.  It's very satisfying and i want to get mine done for next week if poss.  Lots of laughter and a good spread for the apéro and desserts at lunchtime.  I even managed to sell tickets for the garden club tombola.

Mosaic was good too but I was so tired after OH's snory Sunday night and a full day at patch.  Most of the chat was about the garden cub plant fair on Easter Saturday as half the ladies are either committee or ordinary members and we have a lot to manage.  I shall be on the cakes and pastries stand all day, of course.

@WonkyWomble and @raisingirl I ordered a 8 x 4 metre polytunnel a few months after we moved here.   OH took it upon himself to erect the entire structure and cover it without my help and sent me away when I offered.  It is now definitely my territory tho he still puts up the summer shade net by himself and removes it at the end of summer.

I have organised the inside to suit my needs but it's taken me till this last weekend to get him to move in some beams to edge the two beds to stop the soil falling onto the central path.

Happy belated birthday to @WonkyWomble.  And thanks for the link to daybreak @Dovefromabove - very soothing!
You would love it here @Obelixx - we have a shop here that specialises in fat quarters (and other fabrics and accessories etc) for quilting and patchwork and they regularly hold classes and workshops. I used to run the craft shop next door and their customers liked my shop too.  Some even booked their holidays in this area just so they could visit that shop - and there were some groups of ladies who booked weekend retreats together so they could sew, natter, visit Sow & So's to their hearts' content.

We were at a wedding yesterday and it was lovely - not tooooo cold and no rain.  I even had a dance at one point but we sloped off just after the disco started.

The couple stated no presents, but if we wanted to make a contribution to the honeymoon they were fine with that and there would be a donations box at the reception. So I asked my husband to find a nice card we could put the money into. He came back with a nice card - but it was of a man and a woman!  Not at all suitable for Simon and Christopher!  Why?  Just why?  Well - it was the best one they had!  I can kind of see the logic.

Same sex cards are much more available now. I remember when Hubby and I got together I had to look for cards where the characters ( usually cartoon bears etc ) were not obviously meant to be male and female

Afternoon all, warmer and breezy here which is good, although I won't be doing any gardening, totally devoid of energy still. The Tulips are looking lovely from the window though, I think I like the purple ones best. Might wander up the garden later to see how the asparagus is doing - hopefully ready soon.
I have got one set of bath towels in the wash and another load waiting as trying to get organized for the weekend. Good shout for macaroni cheese - thanks.

I couldn't even get a Happy Retirement card recently so had to settle for a Thank You Very Much card. It's for a  lovely lady in our local shop who's retiring after 15 years, she's been there nearly every day, whatever the weather and worked right through Covid so we thought she deserved a card and gift. I'm waiting for the gift to arrive by post - had to order it from M & S as I couldn't go into town last week.

    Enjoy whatever you're doing today.

    Good afternoon all.

Blowy today - not much but quite cold.  We have sun.   Quiet afternoon after my Swiss Ball lesson this morning.  There were only 4 of us, so the prof has time to straighten us out!!

I found my wee (wild) rabbit dead in the garden yesterday - looked like the works of a cat.  In a way, best.  Although I was sad for it to meet such an untimely death, it did have a few weeks of fun in my garden.

Hard to get decent greetings etc cards in France.  People don't send cards for this and that here.  Many years ago had to get English friends to buy me boxes of Christmas cards.

I know I should be doing something constructive, but ..... sooo into my book at the moment.  "The Giver of Stars" by Jojo Moyes if anyone would like a suggestion.

    Happy Tuesday to you.

Afternoon all, I was just taking advantage of the sun on the terrace with a cup of tea, beautiful out of the wind. Like you @tui I feel as if I should be "doing something" but I was enjoying the sun so much! I've seen our first hummingbird hawkmoth of the season, it must be warming up!
My neighbour told me her husband has been diagnosed with dementia, which we we had thought about two weeks ago when he looked very vacantly at us and it was difficult to have a conversation with him, she said he forgets everything, which is so sad as we have known them for seventeen years.

No sun here, but it’s quite bright and much warmer than last week. Took the dog for a walk round the Donkey Sanctuary this morning, and OH has made a start on grass cutting.  I’m hoping to get out into the garden myself this afternoon. Last chance to fill the green bins, and I can now safely venture into the front garden, now that the leaning tree has been removed.
Dont know how you cope, @Desi_in_London. I’d have to volunteer for any night shifts, and sleep through the daylight hours! My sister is looking forward to the end of Lent. She typically gives up alcohol, chocolate and any form of baked goods including cake and bread! Her family then celebrate Easter with an amazing feast of goodies. Her son is an amazing pastrycook and baker, with cakes nearly as impressive as Dordogne Damsel’s. Wish I lived nearer!
  • @Ergates I think in some Middle Eastern  countries they do in fact change around the working hours to accommodate it ... but obviously if you are eg a farmer or involved in other outdoor work that isn't exactly feasible!
