  • Evening all,

Happy Birthday @WonkyWomble. You must indulge in a slice of my cake 🍰. 😁
After a busy day I'm now relaxing on the back porch with a little sherry?

Congratulations on the new greenhouse @raisingirl , something on my wishlist, but not yet, haven't the time to enjoy it yet. 🙄

Like @Dovefromabove I would  have suggested Fish pie, I quite like baked salmon too with a honey and mustard sauce, but it's fish again. Maybe a lentil curry?

Hope you are well looked after @punkdoc and you're able to help with the awful situation.

As Charlie is off to the UK next week I've booked myself a little trip, off to Nîmes for a few days, with a call in at Ikea on the way back at Toulouse. Found a lovely rooftop apartment in the centre of the old town, beautifully renovated, only fly in the ointment is the 72 steps up to get to it, no lift..... I will be checking I've everything I need before I leave each morning and packing a very light suitcase. 😅 That'll be Sunday to Friday next week. I did contemplate staying home and working on stuff that always get put to one side but decided a relaxing break was needed, especially as my trip to Corfu is postponed until at least the end of September.

Anyway, best organise dinner, have a good evening all.

Belated Happy Birthday, Wonky. Hope the chicken was delicious and OH provided some other compensation for his lack of culinary expertise  :)

Thanks all for your recipe suggestions. Time to ponder. Our friend hasn't had a stroke Dove but a throat op which didn't work unfortunately. Makes eating a bit difficult sometimes.

  • Belated happy birthday @WonkyWomble, since @Dovefromabove is 27 i can only assume you are celebrating your 11th ?

@Lizzie27 -- in addition to what has been suggested, perhaps a macaroni cheese or some kind of baked gnocchi dish?

  • my arithmetic is spot on as i am already all coffee'd up in advance for the day ( ramadan!) -- although I'll see how I go as the month carries on, i normally manage to keep about half the fasts

Good luck with the fasts @Desi_in_London 😊.  When I worked I was once lucky enough to be calling on a family one evening in the winter as they broke their fast and was persuaded to join them for their meal … marvellous!  It must be harder at this time of year as the daylight hours are longer. 😊

  • @Dovefromabove It is harder the nearer summer it is, but when they are really long (as you almost certainly know, unlike a "seasonal" Lent, Ramadan cycles through the whole year  ) -- but through the height of midsummer I generally "cheat" and keep shorter hours ( aligned with Mecca or some such) to make it doable.
